Doctoral Researcher in Energy Transition and Building Heating

About the role

The PhD investigates how the building heating sector can be decarbonised as part of the broader energy transition. It focuses on the existing building stock and combines real‑world data analysis with digital, physical and data‑driven modelling to evaluate solutions and future energy system scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality research on the decarbonisation of building heating.
• Develop and apply modelling and simulation methods to analyse future energy system scenarios.
• Collect, process and interpret real‑world data to support research analysis.
• Collaborate with industrial and academic partners at national and international levels.
• Disseminate research outcomes through scientific publications and conference presentations.
• Contribute to teaching activities, including 1–2 contact hours per week or student supervision.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Engineering (Energy, Mechanical, Electrical or related field).
• Solid background in the energy domain, especially building energy.
• Interest and skills in numerical modelling.
• Excellent English (C1) and good knowledge of German or French (B1) is an asset.
• Demonstrated B2‑level proficiency in the language of the thesis.
