Site Transmission Line Supervisor – 500 kV Overhead Transmission Line

About the role

AFRY is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Supervisor to act as the Owner's Engineer onsite for a 500 kV double‑circuit overhead transmission line project in Lao PDR. You will ensure safe, efficient construction that meets all technical, quality and HSSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise all line construction activities, including foundations, tower erection, conductor stringing, OPGW installation, testing and commissioning.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Ensure adherence to HSSE requirements, IFC/World Bank EHS Guidelines, IEC standards and local regulations.
• Conduct site inspections, witness testing, identify non‑conformities and support corrective actions.
• Track project progress, verify quantities, identify risks and assist with mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, clients and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly site reports, NCRs, safety observations and other project documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil or Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission line construction or supervision.
• Proven involvement in at least two overhead transmission projects of 500 kV or higher.
• Experience on long‑distance (150 km +) projects, preferably in mountainous terrain.
• Strong knowledge of tower erection, conductor stringing, OPGW installation, grounding, testing and commissioning.
• Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, CIGRE, and IFC EHS guidelines and quality/HSE management systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with AutoCAD and PLS‑CADD is a plus.
• Fluent written and spoken English; knowledge of Lao or Thai is advantageous.
