Underground Senior Geotech Engineer

About the role

Join a high‑performing mining company in a multicultural team, living residentially in Vientiane with an attractive 9‑day on‑site and 5‑day off roster.

Key responsibilities

• Identify early onset of local instability and recommend immediate actions.
• Undertake daily mapping of the surface decline and incorporate data into the Geotechnical Model.
• Review ground support performance and recommend changes for long‑term stability.
• Participate in risk assessments as the geotechnical subject‑matter expert.
• Log drill core from the underground project and enter results into the site database.
• Conduct QA/QC of underground support products and installations.
• Monitor support consumable stock levels and provide forecasts.
• Ensure geotechnical considerations are incorporated into weekly and monthly mine plans.
• Contribute to underground mine designs for portals, declines, drill drives, and support systems.
• Collaborate with contractors and various mine departments to ensure efficient project implementation.
• Implement operational improvements based on quality‑supporting analysis.
• Maintain high‑quality documentation and reporting of all underground geotechnical activities.
• Develop ground support budgets and provide regular forecast updates.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years experience in a similar role.
• Extensive site‑based operational expertise, preferably in SE Asia.
• Proficient user of MS Office (Excel, Word, Project).
• Effective communicator with senior managers and site personnel.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Team‑oriented with a collaborative approach.
• Strong analytical capability and commercial focus.
