About the role

As a Crisis Helpline Responder you will be the first point of contact for individuals in acute emotional distress, providing immediate, compassionate support. Working remotely on a flexible part‑time schedule, you will help stabilize callers, assess risk, and connect them with life‑saving resources.

Key responsibilities

• Answer crisis hotline calls with empathy and professionalism.
• Deliver evidence‑based crisis counseling and de‑escalation techniques.
• Conduct risk assessments and arrange emergency services or referrals when needed.
• Maintain accurate, confidential call documentation.
• Develop personalized safety and crisis‑management plans.
• Ensure smooth handovers between shifts.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience on a helpline (paid or volunteer).
• Proven ability to manage high‑risk situations.
• Emotional resilience and calm decision‑making under pressure.
• Fluency in Lao and English; additional languages are a plus.
