Field Project Coordinator

About the role

The Field Project Coordinator supports IOM’s migration‑related programmes at provincial and community levels in Lao PDR. Reporting to the National Project Officer and Senior Project Assistant, the role involves extensive field travel and direct engagement with local authorities, community leaders and beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Act as IOM’s focal point for capacity‑building and prevention activities in targeted provinces.
• Coordinate logistical arrangements with IOM, government agencies, CSOs and NGOs.
• Draft invitation letters, terms of reference and other project documents in Lao and English.
• Maintain partnership databases and update CT data regularly.
• Prepare notes, activity reports and documentation for workshops, trainings and awareness‑raising events.
• Facilitate translation and dissemination of training manuals and outreach materials for CEFM‑TiP prevention projects.
• Collect and compile field data, including surveys, training records, beneficiary lists and case trends.
• Ensure timely submission of field mission reports, visibility documentation and inputs for donor reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, community development, international relations, gender studies, law or related field.
• At least five years of professional experience in community‑based project work, protection or social development.
• Experience in community mobilisation, field coordination in rural settings and working with vulnerable groups, especially women, children and ethnic minorities.
• Experience collaborating with provincial government counterparts and local civil‑society organisations.

Required skills

• Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse ethnic groups.
• Ability to manage multiple field activities simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Good understanding of protection principles, Do‑No‑Harm, safeguarding and gender‑sensitive approaches.
• Excellent organisational, communication and report‑writing abilities.
• Fluency in Lao and working knowledge of English; knowledge of local ethnic languages is an advantage.
