Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Officer

About the role

ALS is seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) Officer for its Vientiane office. You will protect workers and property by developing, implementing and monitoring safety policies across sites and laboratories.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and develop a strong HSE, sustainability and compliance culture.
• Ensure compliance with legal requirements, internal policies and global standards.
• Implement and monitor HSE programs, processes and ways of working across sites and the region.
• Conduct HSE inspections, observations and compliance checks at the main site and remote sample‑preparation laboratories.
• Support business interactions with authorities and relevant regulatory bodies.
• Travel to remote locations to provide HSE support and follow‑up on requirements.
• Assist QC laboratory audits together with the HSE/QC team when required.
• Support HSE training, awareness, incident follow‑up and other HSE activities.
• Handle daily HSE administration and corporate reporting activities.
• Assist the HSE Manager with routine reporting, allowing focus on corporate‑level matters.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree or certification in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of safety work experience; laboratory or mining experience is a plus.
• Structured, independent work style with strong planning abilities.
• Excellent communicator who collaborates across functions and levels.
• Full proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel to remote work locations.
