Remote Laotian-English Medical Interpreter

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time remote Laotian‑English Medical Interpreter to support patients, healthcare providers and administrative staff. The interpreter will facilitate accurate, confidential communication during phone or video calls, ensuring medical information is conveyed correctly in both languages.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret medical information between Laotian and English in real‑time during phone or video consultations.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy regulations throughout all interactions.
• Clarify terminology and adapt language to the appropriate medical and cultural context.
• Assist with translation of short medical or administrative documents when required.
• Record call details accurately and follow organizational protocols.
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with medical terminology and best practices.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in both Laotian and English with clear, professional communication.
• Experience in medical or community interpreting, healthcare customer service, or call‑center environments.
• Demonstrated commitment to patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.
• Reliable internet connection and a suitable remote‑work setup.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant medical interpreting training or certification preferred.
• Ability to remain calm and empathetic in urgent or emotionally charged situations.
