Senior Drill & Blast Engineer – Open Pit Mining

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Drill & Blast Engineer to lead and optimise drilling and blasting activities at our Sepon Gold and Copper operation in Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Reporting to the Superintendent – Open Pit Mine Planning, you will work closely with Operations, Geology, Mine Planning and Survey teams to ensure safe, efficient execution of blast designs that meet production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Implement health and safety standards in line with Lao and LXML requirements.
• Identify and apply process improvements to boost operational efficiency and productivity in drill and blast.
• Support short‑term scheduling (4 weeks to 3 months) to meet quarterly tonnage, grade and cost forecasts.
• Coordinate with the Environmental Department to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Deliver timely drill and blast plans to mine operations and contract partners.
• Monitor contractor QA/QC for drill and blast activities.
• Mentor and train junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a mining environment, preferably open‑pit.
• Hands‑on experience with selective mining projects and wet/tropical conditions is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and a valid driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Vulcan Drill and Blast modules.
• Experience using ShotPlus.
• Familiarity with Deswik software (highly regarded).
• Knowledge of Texcel and Split Desktop (advantage).
• Practical understanding of open‑pit blasting products and pit operation cycles.
