Senior Mining Application Engineer – Mining Systems

About the role

The Senior Mining Application Engineer – Mining Systems will own the technical performance of critical mining applications across open‑pit and underground operations. Reporting to the Superintendent Mining Systems, you will ensure stability, optimisation and effective use of fleet management, production reporting, IoT platforms and automation technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead optimisation of fleet management, production reporting, automation and IoT platforms to align with mine planning and operational requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of system workflows, data accuracy and overall operational efficiency.
• Enhance integrity and reliability of reporting tools such as Jigsaw and Deswik Ops.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors to resolve high‑impact technical issues and improve system performance.
• Establish technical standards, escalation procedures and support models for site systems.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to national Mining Systems Application Support Engineers.
• Identify and implement integration opportunities to boost operational performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in mining systems, operational technology or mining automation.
• Hands‑on experience with underground mining systems and fleet automation.
• Proven track record working with OEM systems such as Sandvik, Caterpillar or Epiroc.
• Experience managing complex technical escalations in live production environments.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring technical teams, preferably in a multinational setting.
