Senior Project Coordinator

About the role

The Senior Project Coordinator will lead day‑to‑day coordination and technical delivery of the ECHO‑funded Asia Regional Disaster Preparedness and Early Warning Action programme in Lao PDR. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role ensures high‑quality implementation of early‑warning systems, community and school preparedness activities, and supports regional learning and emergency response readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and monitor all Result 1 and Result 2 activities, ensuring alignment with the project workplan and results framework.
• Develop detailed activity work plans, implementation timelines and procurement plans in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Organise technical consultations, harmonisation workshops, simulations and after‑action reviews with national and sub‑national authorities.
• Coordinate co‑development and roll‑out of impact‑based early warning protocols, SOPs and decision‑support tools with the regional technical partner and the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
• Supervise Project District Officers and the MEAL Officer, maintaining strong relationships with the Lao Red Cross, disaster management committees and other key stakeholders.
• Ensure child‑safeguarding, gender‑responsive and disability‑inclusive approaches are embedded throughout project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience in coordinating disaster risk reduction or early‑warning projects, preferably in a humanitarian context.
• Strong understanding of impact‑based early warning systems, SOP development and community preparedness.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience working with government agencies, NGOs and international partners.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
