Technical Field Manager – Humanitarian Mine Action

About the role
MAG is seeking a Technical Field Manager to lead humanitarian mine action operations in Laos. You will oversee safe delivery of de‑mining activities in complex, remote environments, ensuring that explosive ordnance threats are reduced for local communities.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise field teams across Xieng Khouang and Khammouane provinces, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and maintain the highest safety standards on site.
- Plan, survey, and monitor clearance activities, adapting operations to changing conditions.
- Provide training, mentoring and capacity‑building for national staff.
- Support the Technical Operations Manager in programme delivery and reporting.
Required profile
- Proven experience in Humanitarian Mine Action programmes within conflict‑affected or remote settings.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong organisational, communication and reporting abilities.
- Basic understanding of community liaison for effective HMA delivery.
Required skills
- Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) qualification – IMAS Level 3 (meeting IMAS 09.30 requirements).
- Technical expertise in surveying and risk assessment for mine clearance.
