Technical Field Manager, Laos

About the role

The Technical Field Manager will lead the safe delivery of humanitarian mine action operations in Laos, overseeing field teams and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You will work closely with the Technical Operations Manager to adapt programmes to complex, remote environments and support local capacity building.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor field teams across Xieng Khouang and Khammouane provinces.
• Ensure adherence to MAG Standard Operating Procedures and conduct ongoing risk assessments.
• Plan, survey, and monitor de‑mining activities, maintaining high safety and quality standards.
• Deliver training and mentorship to national staff, strengthening local expertise.
• Support problem‑solving and operational adjustments in response to changing field conditions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Humanitarian Mine Action programmes within conflict‑affected or remote settings.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong organisational, communication and reporting abilities.
• Basic understanding of community liaison for effective HMA delivery.

Required skills

• Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) qualification to IMAS Level 3 (IMAS 09.30).
• Technical expertise in humanitarian mine action and risk assessment.
