Environmental Assessment & Management Specialist

About the role

ESL Company Limited is looking for an experienced Environmental Assessment & Management Specialist to strengthen its Environmental & Biodiversity Division. The role involves leading environmental assessment, management, monitoring and compliance projects across sectors such as energy, mining, infrastructure, waste, water and climate in Lao PDR.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to IEE, EIA/ESIA, ESMMP/EMMP and environmental compliance assignments.
• Review project activities against Lao environmental regulations, project commitments and international standards (IFC, World Bank, ADB).
• Conduct compliance reviews, gap assessments, monitoring and corrective‑action follow‑up.
• Develop practical environmental management, mitigation and monitoring measures.
• Plan and supervise physical baseline surveys (water, air, noise, soil) and coordinate biodiversity, forestry and ecological studies.
• Design survey plans, sampling methods, field protocols and QA/QC procedures.
• Manage field teams, laboratories and specialist inputs, analyse data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Required profile

• University degree in environmental science, engineering or a related discipline.
• Several years of experience leading environmental assessment and management projects in sectors such as energy, mining, infrastructure, waste, water or climate.
• Proven ability to work independently, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and deliver high‑quality client‑ready outputs.
