Accounting Specialist

About the role

Nam Theun 2 Hydropower Company (NTPC) is looking for an on-site Accounting Specialist based in Vientiane Capital, Laos. The role handles day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliation and month-end and year-end closing support.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile accounts
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities
• Assist with the preparation and review of financial statements
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Use accounting software to process transactions and maintain accurate financial records
• Provide timely financial information to management
• Support audits and respond to financial data requests
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to improve processes and controls

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA) is an advantage
• Strong knowledge of financial statements and finance, with the ability to interpret and analyse financial information
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards and local regulatory requirements
• Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry and strong organisational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and communicate clearly in English; Lao is an asset
• Experience in the energy, infrastructure or industrial sector is beneficial
