National Consultant – Nutrition Sensitive Social Protection

About the role

UNICEF in Vientiane is seeking a National Consultant to lead nutrition‑sensitive social protection initiatives. The 12‑month assignment combines office‑based and home‑based work to strengthen systems that prevent child wasting and improve referral mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders to align nutrition and social protection efforts.
• Provide data collection, analysis and documentation support for drivers of wasting analysis.
• Develop referral instruments, standard operating procedures and tools for identifying and supporting wasted children.
• Design, adapt and roll out training curricula for partners and field staff.
• Prepare regular technical reports and documentation for UNICEF and partners.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Public Policy, Social Protection, Public Health, Nutrition, Economics, Development Studies or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in social protection, nutrition‑sensitive programming or systems strengthening.
• Proven experience linking nutrition and social protection, especially in child wasting or vulnerability targeting.
• Familiarity with Lao government structures, policies and sub‑national systems.
• Strong analytical, facilitation and partnership‑building abilities.
