Technical Advisor – Processing Training & Safety

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Advisor – Processing Training & Safety to lead the development and modernisation of processing training, Permit to Work and energy isolation systems for our Sepon Gold and Copper operation in Savannakhet, Laos. Reporting to the Superintendent – Training & Safety, the role will work closely with processing, maintenance and HSE teams to build competency frameworks and safe work practices.

Key responsibilities

• Support continuous improvement of processing training systems and competency frameworks aligned with operational risk.
• Review and update technical training materials and work instructions for field clarity.
• Enhance Permit to Work, isolation and control of work systems, including digital tool implementation.
• Design structured training pathways for operators, trainers and supervisors.
• Collaborate with site trainers and operational leaders to improve training delivery and assessment quality.
• Implement competency assurance practices such as field‑based verification and practical assessments.
• Work with processing, maintenance and HSE teams to ensure safe work practices for high‑risk activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that boost safety performance and workforce capability.

Required profile

• Diploma or tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline; a bachelor’s degree is desirable.
• Formal training and assessment qualification (e.g., Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mineral processing operations or technical training within complex processing environments.
• Strong practical understanding of high‑risk processing operations and control‑of‑work systems, including Permit to Work and energy isolation (LOTOTO).
