Country Lead – Laos

About the role

The Country Lead – Laos is a founding position at Mitti Labs, responsible for designing, launching, and scaling the company’s initial climate‑smart rice farming projects in Laos.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own Laos' operations roadmap, including feasibility studies, budget planning, and partnership development.
• Develop localized farmer onboarding strategies aligned with regional value chains and seasonal calendars.
• Navigate Laos' carbon regulatory landscape and emerging voluntary carbon market pathways.
• Create and manage district‑specific operational playbooks, SOPs, training manuals, and QA/QC frameworks.
• Build trust with farming communities, working with village heads, FPO leaders, and local mobilizers.
• Hire, develop, and lead a high‑performing in‑country team and foster a culture reflecting Mitti’s ethos.
• Manage external implementation partners and field agent networks.

Required profile

• 8+ years in operations, agriculture, or rural development with proven ability to build programs from scratch and scale them.
• Direct experience managing agricultural field operations in Laos, preferably rice farming.
• Fluent in Lao and proficient in English for internal collaboration.
• Willingness to travel 40‑60% across provinces and remote farming areas.
