Head of Award and Donor Compliance

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Award and Donor Compliance to lead award management and donor compliance for our country office in Vientiane. The role ensures that all award cycles—from proposal development to close‑out—meet the highest standards and align with strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full award lifecycle, including portfolio planning, securing funding, implementation, reporting and close‑out.
• Ensure compliance with complex donor requirements, timely approvals, and accurate documentation.
• Lead risk management activities, conduct risk assessments and facilitate regular review meetings.
• Build capacity of staff and partners on donor compliance and award management processes.
• Coordinate internal and external reporting schedules and adhere to the Scheme of Delegation for approvals.
• Manage the Right First Time (RFT) KPI by collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Support program and support functions in sub‑grant processes, including legal vetting and capacity assessments.
• Contribute to the development of best‑practice systems and processes at both country and global levels.
• Respond to major humanitarian emergencies, adapting working hours as needed.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of donor compliance, award management and humanitarian funding cycles.
• Proven experience in risk management and capacity‑building within an NGO or international development context.
• Ability to work collaboratively with program, finance and support functions.
• Commitment to child safeguarding policies, code of conduct and local procedures.

Required skills

• Knowledge of donor compliance frameworks and reporting requirements.
• Experience with risk assessment tools and KPI monitoring.
• Familiarity with legal vetting and sub‑grant management processes.
