Underground Electrical Supervisor

About the role

The Underground Electrical Supervisor will lead the safe installation, inspection, troubleshooting and maintenance of all underground electrical systems at Phu Bia Mining’s operations. Reporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Asset Management Superintendent, you will ensure maximum availability, reliability and compliance with safety and statutory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive and corrective maintenance of underground electrical systems, including substations, pumps, fans, switchgear, cables, lighting and communication systems.
• Install and commission new electrical equipment in line with design specifications and company standards.
• Support underground electricians, supervise work to safe standards and ensure compliance with Lao national electrical safety regulations and relevant international standards.
• Provide responsive electrical support to minimise equipment downtime and collaborate with mechanical and mobile maintenance teams.
• Maintain accurate records of work, inspections and equipment performance using SAP or similar CMMS.

Required profile

• Recognised trade qualification in Electrical Fitting or Electrical Technology (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground mining or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Fluent in spoken and written English; Lao language skills are advantageous.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and ability to work in multicultural teams.

Required skills

• Lockout/Tagout procedures and safe isolation of underground electrical systems.
• Interpretation of electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams and manufacturer manuals.
• Use of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as SAP.
• Knowledge of HV/LV equipment and underground electrical reticulation.
