Freelance Laotian Interpreter (OPI/VRI)

About the role

BIG Language Solutions is looking for qualified freelance interpreters who can provide Over‑the‑Phone Interpreting (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services in Laotian. The role is fully remote and operates on a contract‑by‑contract basis, allowing you to work from any location while supporting clients in real‑time communication.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, faithful interpretation of spoken content from English to Laotian and vice‑versa without adding, omitting, or altering meaning.
• Maintain strict impartiality and adhere to the interpreter’s code of ethics at all times.
• Interpret in the first person, clarify meaning when necessary, and ensure confidentiality of all parties.
• Provide cultural context and explain relevant cultural differences when appropriate.
• Continuously improve interpreting skills and stay current with professional standards.
• Offer high‑quality customer service to clients and end‑users.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Absolute fluency in both English and Laotian.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple written instructions, correspondence, and memos.
• Capability to write clear, concise correspondence.
• Comfort presenting information in one‑on‑one or small‑group settings.
• Commitment to confidentiality, impartiality, and professional ethics.

Required skills

• Fluency in English.
• Fluency in Laotian.
