Senior Procurement Officer - Underground Mining

About the role

A mining company in Laos is looking for a Senior Procurement Officer to support its Underground business unit. Reporting to the Superintendent of Procurement, the role gives strategic oversight of purchasing, expediting and logistics services and works closely with Underground leadership, technical teams and inventory functions to secure supply and improve operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee underground consumable stock levels and provide accurate, forward-looking reporting for operational planning
• Represent Procurement in daily Underground operational meetings and advise on solutions
• Work with Underground leaders, technical users and inventory teams to set procurement priorities
• Lead RFQ processes and raise purchase orders for stock and non-stock items in line with commercial, technical and budgetary expectations
• Identify and manage supply chain risks to ensure continuity of supply to critical production areas
• Drive expediting and keep suppliers engaged to meet deadlines and contractual commitments
• Track and report purchase order status to stakeholders
• Champion process improvement to improve efficiency, reduce costs and mitigate risks
• Mentor colleagues in the procurement team when needed

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Supply Chain Management or a related field
• At least 5 years' experience in procurement, supply chain or logistics, preferably in mining, heavy industry or large-scale operations in the Asia Pacific or China region
• Strong knowledge of materials and consumables used in underground mining, including equipment specifications, critical spares and safety products
• Ability to identify supply chain risks, develop mitigation strategies and resolve complex delivery or supplier performance issues
• Excellent written and spoken English, Lao and Thai

Required skills

• Proficiency in Pronto, SAP or similar ERP systems, with the ability to interpret data
• Strong organisation, planning and prioritisation skills
• Strong relationships with operational teams, technical stakeholders and suppliers
